  55. 1. The game supplied is an unregistered version.  This version is
  56.    provided as a demonstration of the game capabilities and provides 
  57.    a fully functioning BACCARAT simulation.  Some game enhancements 
  58.    are reserved for those users who find this game to be a worthwhile 
  59.    investment. Shareware is a try before you buy marketing method. If 
  60.    you make regular use of this software, you are expected to "purchase"
  61.    it by paying the registration fee. As an incentive to register this 
  62.    program, I will send you the newest version of this software complete
  63.    with all the game enhancements not available in the unregistered 
  64.    copy.  These features are listed below.

  66.              REGISTRATION BENEFITS

  68. 1. Your registered version will no longer have registration reminders
  69.    on screen.
  70. 2. Your registered version will save all game information for all players
  71.    and will recall this information for each new game allowing the player
  72.    to continue a game started in a previous session.

  74.    one time.  Any seats not occupied by a human will be filled in by computer
  75.    generated players.  The unregistered version allows only one "Human" player
  76.    to play at a time.

  78.    compatible system, you can order the optional voice pack for this game.
  79.    These files will allow you to hear digital recordings of the words seen
  80.    in the talk balloons.  This provides for a more realistic and entertain-
  81.    ing game.  NOTE: When all voice files are decompressed to your hard disk,
  82.    they will occupy nearly 1 mega byte of space.

  143. A registration / order form can be printed out using this utility. Press 
  144. "P" and select choice #2.  Specific printer support is not provided, but
  145. the form is ASCII text and should print on most printers.  If you can't
  146. print out of copy of the registration / order form, just send me a note
  147. and let me know what option you want.  The file name for the order form is 
  148. "ORDERFRM.TXT", you can load this file into your word processor for print
  149. out if desired.  Please include the type of disk desired.

  154.               INSTALLATION / SET UP
  155.  
  156. Use the install program provided to set this game up for play.  All program 
  157. files must be uncompressed and located in the same directory. The compression 
  158. and extraction routines used for diskette data is LHA and is copyrighted by 
  159. Haruyasu Yoshizaki. LHA is used as per the terms of Mr. Yohshizaki's 
  160. documentation.

  162.               GAME START UP
  163.  
  164. The game is started by typing "BACCARAT" after being properly installed.
  165.  
  166.                COMMAND LINE OPTIONS
  167.  
  168. The following letters may be included on the command line when invoking 
  169. the program to provide the following results.
  170.  
  171.       /D D or DEMO --- Starts the game in the Demo mode.  Push F-1
  172.                to end the Demo.
  173.  
  174.       /S S or SILENT - Starts the game without the Sound Blaster 
  175.                selected. 
  176.  
  177. NOTE:  These command line options may be combined if desired.
  178.  
  179.             PLAYING THE GAME
  180.  
  181. The information provided below applies to the registered version of this
  182. game.  Some features are reserved for registered users.  See Registration
  183. benefits above for a list of these features.
  184.  
  185. Follow the prompts to sign in.  Up to 6 "HUMAN" players may play at the 
  186. same time.  If less than 6 "HUMANS" will play,  up to 3 computer players 
  187. will fill in the empty seats.
  188.  
  189. The first step is for each player to place a bet.  The player's name
  190. (who is next in line to place a bet) will flash until his bet is
  191. placed.  
  192.  
  193. The letter in () for each menu category may be used from the
  194. keyboard to access that menu item.  If in a sub menu, the first
  195. letter of the menu item will activate that menu event.
  196.  
  197. Buttons on a menu will not be present for a category that is N/A
  198. at that time.  For instance,  the (P)ush last bet category will
  199. only have a button next to it if the previous bet round was won. 
  200.  
  201. Escape will exit from the present menu to the invoking menu.  If in
  202. the MAIN MENU, pushing Escape will produce the same results as select
  203. ing the QUIT button.
  204.  
  205.                MAIN MENU
  206.  
  207. Bet P(L)ayers --- implements the PLAYER bet.
  208.  
  209. Bet B(A)nkers --- implements the BANKER bet.
  210.  
  211. Bet T(I)e     --- implements the TIE bet.
  212.  
  213. (R)epeat Last --- Allows the better to repeat his last bet.  No
  214.           button for this selection until an initial bet
  215.           has been made.
  216.  
  217. (P)ush Last Win - Allows the better to press his last bet + 
  218.           winnings for the next bet.  No button for this
  219.           selection unless the better's last bet was a 
  220.           winner.
  221.  
  222. (C)hip Value ---- Allows the better to select the value of the
  223.           smallest chip.  Possible bets range from this 
  224.           chip value to 5 x this chip value.
  225.  
  226. (G)ame Speed ---- Game speed ranges from 1 to 25.  Higher values 
  227.           equal faster games.  If a sound blaster is
  228.           found by the game, it will be disabled at 
  229.           settings above 20.
  230.  
  231. (O)ptions ------- Opens the options menu.
  232.  
  233.              OPTIONS MENU
  234.  
  235. (P)ass Shoe ----- Allows the better who is the BANKER to pass
  236.           the bank (shoe) if he/she so desires.
  237.  
  238. (B)accarat Info - Provides general information concerning Baccarat,
  239.           Commissions, Game Play and Payoffs.  If NEXT is 
  240.           selected, a table of RULES GOVERNING CARD DRAWS
  241.           is displayed.
  242.  
  243. (T)utor --------- This selection can be toggled on/off.  When On
  244.           (button down), the large curtain in the center of 
  245.           the game screen drops down from the top and the 
  246.           player will be provided with an explanation of the
  247.           game as it proceeds.  Each step in the game play 
  248.           will be explained.  To move to the next step one
  249.           need only push a mouse or keyboard key.  Once the 
  250.           player no longer needs the TUTOR, he/she can toggle
  251.           toggle it off.
  252.  
  253. (S)tats --------- Show game statistics for each player at the table.
  254.  
  255. (R)esults ------- When selected (button down), the large curtain in 
  256.           the center of the game screen drops down from the
  257.           top and the player is provided with a listing of 
  258.           all players, their last bet and the results of the
  259.           round.  NOTE: this will happen at the end of the 
  260.           round regardless of the status of the Results 
  261.           button.  When Results is selected, the results
  262.           screen stays in view throughout the game (unless
  263.           the TUTOR is also selected).  If not selected, it 
  264.           will be moved out of view when the cards are 
  265.           played.  
  266.         
  267. (M)ouse --------- This selection allows adjustment of the mouse
  268.           sensitivity.
  269.  
  270. (V)oice --------- When selected (button down), the talk seen in the
  271.           dealers talk balloons will be annunciated by the
  272.           sound blaster (provided one is available and the
  273.           optional Voice Pack has been ordered).  This 
  274.           selection can be toggled On/Off.  If the game speed
  275.           is increased above 20 the sound blaster is disabled.

  277. (E)xit ---------- Exits the Options menu back to the Main Menu.

  279.                  USE WITH WINDOWS
  280.  
  281. 1.  This product was not written specifically for windows compatibility,
  282. but in most cases it can be used from WINDOWS 3.1.  Compatibility with 
  283. WINDOWS is not guaranteed.  To use this product from windows perform the 
  284. following......
  285.  
  286.     a. Install the program normally from DOS. Make note of the drive
  287.        and directory on which you installed the program.
  288.     b. Start Windows.  Bring up the Program Manager.
  289.  
  290.        NOTE: If you want to place this file into an existing Program
  291.        Group, select the program group you want this program to fit 
  292.        into and skip to step f.
  293.  
  294.     c. Click on File then click New. 
  295.     d. Select Program Group then click the OK button. 
  296.     e. In Description enter "GAMBLERS", then click the OK button.
  297.     f. Click File from the Program Manager, then click New.
  298.     g. Select Program Item then click the OK button.
  299.     h. In the Program Item Properties box enter the following.
  300.        Description      : "ULTIMATE BACCARAT".
  301.        Command Line     : "BACCARAT.EXE"
  302.        Working Directory: (enter the drive and directory as noted in A
  303.        above.  EXAMPLE: "d:\baccarat"
  304.     i. Click Change Icon button then click the next OK button.
  305.     j. In the File Name block enter "(drive and directory as noted in A
  306.        above plus "\BAC.ICO"), then push the OK button. 
  307.        EXAMPLE: "d:\baccarat\bac.ico". 
  308.     k. You should see the BACCARAT icon appear as the Program Item 
  309.        Properties dialoge box reappears.  Push the OK button and you
  310.        are now done.
  311.     
  312.     NOTE: If you have a sound blaster, insure the proper driver is 
  313.     installed through the Windows Control Panel.  You may have to adjust
  314.     the DMA buffer.  If you receive a windows error message advising you
  315.     to adjust the DMA buffer, use an ASCII text editor to add the 
  316.     following line to the [386Enh] section or your windows "system.ini" 
  317.     file.  Add "DMABUFFERSIZE = 017" to this file.

  319.              OTHER ULTIMATE GAMES
  320.  
  321. Go where no card player has gone before, into the ULTIMATE ZONE.  These 2
  322. exciting and addictive games will provide hours of entertainment and 
  323. excitement.  Each game has been designed to provide a realistic simulation of
  324. the game it emulates.  These games use keyboard or mouse and require 540K, 
  325. EGA or VGA, DOS 3.1 or above, and a hard disk.  A sound blaster voice pack 
  326. is available for both games.

  328.                 ULTIMATE BLACKJACK
  329.  
  330. Enter a fully animated casino card game and gambling school where you play
  331. solo against the dealer or with any of 12 computer characters, each with a
  332. different style of play (biographies included!).  Set the number of decks,
  333. change the rules to match any casino, and monitor stats as the game 
  334. progresses.  See how the other player's strategies and bets fare in the long
  335. run.  Want more, how about this -- a simulation feature lets you test custom 
  336. strategies!  You can even use 2 different card counting systems.  Novices 
  337. will also appreciate the slick online tutor that suggests the best moves.  
  338. Even more features are included, but be prepared!  If you take a seat at 
  339. this table you may never get up!

  343. Pull up a seat and get ready for a great game of GIN RUMMY with one of 8
  344. notorious players.  Choose the game variation you like to play (Standard
  345. Gin or one of 2 forms of Oklahoma Gin).  Hollywood scoring is an option
  346. you can choose to spice up the game.  How about the game score?  You can
  347. set the game score and all bonus points to the way you want them.  Play up
  348. to 40 games in a match with any of the 8 players.  Continue the match at
  349. a later time, or start a new match if desired.  Check out the player's 
  350. biographies and see which one (playing skill for each is different) you want
  351. to challenge.  Set the game speed, check the score book at any time and 
  352. much more.
